Hi everyone--very little time to read and write lately--too much gardening
to do, mine and others....fun fun fun!
Do you think those little lizards, that are all over the outside of our
country house eat bugs??? Our house is what they call a stacked cedar
house--walls are 3"X8" "pecky" cedar boards--kind of a milled log house, as
the ends criss cross and are exposded. All kinds of wild life like this
house, which is on the edge of the doug fir and ponderosa pine forest and
the marshy meadow that is an arm of American Valley. Maybe I'll send a
photo--can that be done on the listserved?
Anyway--the most fun way to fight the snails is a hint I (and hundreds of
others) got from Ann Lovejoy. Take a spray bottle that shoots a good
stream. Fill with water and a little amonia. Then go out in the cool of
the am and shoot them. They plop off on the ground in a very satisfying way.
We find we have bats in our garage. We have ordered a bat house because we
would be glad to have them eat our bugs. We need to get them out of the garage.
Does anyone have any experience harboring bats in their garden? I have a
good book--Common Sence Pest Control by Shiela Daar, which has a good
chapter on bats.
