Re: New Zealand lupine
I was looking through my new Sunset Western Landscaping book today and
i saw a picture of those Lupines. I immediately thought " that must be
the Lupine in question" So i have to agree those are Russel Lupines.
About the book, it is wonderful!. THey list the different zones of the
west, from California to the rocky mountains, and show smart gardens in
the different climates. THey even featured a very nice cacti garden,
made to look like it was part of a desert wash. It changed my view of
cacti gardens forever :). Theres also a nice feature on a chapparal
garden with other plants of a mediteranean clime. They have quite a
few colored garden plan sketches and even include which plants to use.
Also included is a map of the different soil types of the west. Very
detailed, my city is in the acid soil with salt area of monterey
bay.Its an amazing book, full of ideas for garden structures, fences,
decks, gazebos, etc. I think the thing i like most about it is it shows
many different styles of gardens, everything from a wet northwest
garden to like i said, desert gardens.
