Hello Isabel,
I got a small plant of Vestia foetida from our Hardy Plant Group
in Victoria two years ago. Native to Chile, this shrub is listed
Zone 9. I kept it through its first winter in my greenhouse which
had a min. temp. of 5 degrees C., and it produced beautiful
yellow flowers in April. Feeling quite confident, I planted it in a
southeast corner of my house, tucked right in a warm pocket,
with sandy soil........And this winter it died right down to the
ground. Am hoping the roots are strong enough to push out some
growth. If so, I PROMISE I'll pot it up and let it spend it's winters
in the greenhouse.
