Ononis

Another nice little non-suckering Ononis, another British native but
with, I think, a pretty well Europe-wide distribution, is O.
rotundifolia, the shrubby restharrow: makes a small narrow upright
bush to perhaps 18", with lots of deep-pink flowers over a long period
(though never all that many at any one time). Tends to be short-lived
on my heavy soil but would probably do better in a more properly
'Mediterrranean' soil (and climate!).
