First off, i just want to thank Alessandra and Charles Dills for the seeds
they sent me. Alessandra sent Caesalpinia sepiaria seeds, and Charles sent
the Catalpa seeds. A few weeks ago (well, with the Catalpa at least), i
attempted to germinate a few. My efforts worked and I have a couple
Catalpa seedlings coming up (one is starting to form true leaves), and I
also have a small Caesalpinia seedling coming up (already has a couple
true leaves, and it's only a week or so old) . The Caesalpinia seems to be
a very uncommonly grown species. It also has one of the hardest, thickest
seed coats i've ever encountered in a legume seed (seemed at least a
1/16th of an inch thick). Anyway, from Alessandra's photos of her tree,
it looks like it will be quite a nice plant in bloom (it's thorny, but so
are roses :))
