My hummers have several thousand hibiscus, ixora, clerodendrum, cacti,
and other flowering plants and trees to pick and choose from, but they
also like their supplementary feeding and I have to say it is a pleasure
to watch them at the verandah feeder when I am enjoying a refreshing rum
and water myself.
What I do not do is emulate some of my neighbours who put out sugar in
saucers - bags of bird seed not being available - which is greedily eaten
by the other birds and can only rot their teeth.
