Re: beebrush again

Dear Robin,

Yes, it was called bee *bush*, but the description of the plant given fits
bee *brush* so well, and the geographic range also fits so well, that I am
betting either Aloysia gratissima or Aloysia wrightii is the plant in
question. Common names for plants can vary so much even in small areas that
I don't think a possible local variant of bee *bush* necessarily rules out
Aloysia. (Also, it may be that the friend with the plants just gave the
plant's name a bit of an individualistic twist--kind of like a long-ago
boyfriend of mine who always insisted that pine trees have "combs," not
"cones.")

Let's hope that Linda, the original poster, will let the whole list know
whether Aloysia xx is the plant in question or not. I confess I hope I was
right just because it was such a thrill to be able to suggest a possible
answer on a list whose members are, in general, far more knowledgeable
about plant species than I am!

best regards,

Katherine Waser
