To all:
Thanks to Hubert Agback on ALPINE-L listserv, I now have found the image
database I have been looking for at the Missouri Botanic Garden site:
http://mobot.mobot.org/W3T/Search/image/imagefr.html
There are a number of steps, not as intuitive as I would like, that lead to
excellent line drawings as GIF files and well-lit herbarium sheets in JPG.
The latter require Java help, but there are different options to accomodate
variations in the user's computer's setup. The images can be downloaded.
Be persistent and try out the options. I had no trouble at all with
Netscape 4.6, and you may not need to be Java enabled.
Ever since I started xeroxing Salvia herbarium sheets at the Gray Herbarium
at Harvard in the mid-70s, I have been lusting for such access.
