I have looked up Nerium oleander [also called rose laurel here in S. France]
in my Med. region Flore des arbres, arbustes et arbrisseaux and it says that
this plant is very toxic. I have somewhere read that a group of soldiers
[maybe from Napolean's army ?] cooked themselves some kebabs on sticks, and
saved the opposing side the trouble of killing them, because they had chosen
oleander wood. It poisoned them. And, someone will correct me if I'm wrong,
when we had a garden in Florida burning oleander was banned as even the ash
is toxic. You have been warned :< I still like it, especially the pale
yellow, white and apricot colours. These shine in the dusk.
Best wishes Jennifer.
