The Andersen Horticultural Library, part of the University of Minnesota
Libraries and located at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, has a for fee
site at http://plantinfo.umn.edu/arboretum/default.asp . It combines
features of their Source List of Plants & Seeds and their publication which
indexes books and periodicals based on their having a botanically identified
color illustration of a plant. Quite often a illustration is accompanied by
information about the plant so you get more than the illustration. The
limitation on the plants and seeds sources is that the nurseries have to be
willing to send their catalogs to the library on a regular basis. Some
people do not see much of a market in Minnesota. Looking quickly at the
1996 List, I see that a number of the plants listed are included. I did not
take the time to check out the location of the sources and whether they
supplied plants or seeds.

I have a general question for everyone, how do you do
plant searches to find growers of specific things? I
tend to do it manually by consulting what
catalogues/old arboretum lists,(such as for Strybing),
that I have in my home library. Is there a way to do
this through the web, that gives good results?
