Dahlia imperialis

I have a couple of these plants, and one is beginning
to bloom. I'm hoping it will before it rains! Even if
not, the plant is still attractive enough to me and
interesting. It's only 5 feet high, but that's due to
me accidentally decapitating the original plant a
couple of months after I got it with a hose :(.
One good thing is these take from cuttings REALLY
well. I was surprised, easiest cutting i've ever had
root. The original plant sent up a new shoot and is
doing well. Both plants have the woody bases. I wonder
if it will get bigger next year though.
