Doh! I was mad at it . Hopefully I won't have to wait another year- I only pruned it to 4' and its growing like crazy. My bad. Should've posted here first!

Oops!? Why do you prune it? It flowers at the growing point and along the leaf nodes for a short distance back. Flowering time is usually late winter with the first warm days and into spring. Can be variable from seed as far as flower maturity is concerned.
