We Sunset Zone 17-ers are jealous. Jacarandas here
bloom in the banana belts, but only rarely leafless,
and they take forever to get big, the largest growing
in Berkeley and Oakland and other areas slightly
removed from the Pacific. In the Bay Area they seem
happiest in the Santa Clara Valley, Zone 15, where
lovely domes of periwinkle can be seen emerging from
the suburban greenery in June.
