Sowing Isopogon anethifolius seed

I was wondering if anyone has helpful info for best
sowing of Isopogon seed? My reference books just say
it is easy from seed, without best time of year,
whether smoke treatment is advised, etc. This is a
beautiful yellow blooming species from New South
Wales, which I unfortunately let go dry in a
container, and have nothing left but the seed. I am
hoping that it is easy to grow, and that I got viable
seed on a self-pollinated plant. I understand this is
currently under evaluation for introduction in 2005
through the Koala Blooms Program/UCSC, and I had felt
very fortunate to get ahold of one while visiting the
Arboretum at UCSC, only to kill it a year later.

Related to Isopogon formosus, does this tend to vary
year to year in amount of bloom in the wild? This
seems to be the pattern here in my garden.

TIA,
David Feix
