I've checked some books I have, with little success. I thought at first that
perhaps the Acclimatization Garden of Francesco Franceschi might possibly have been the Quien Sabe garden that Donald Culross Peattie and his wife lived in. However, that garden was called "Montarioso" and is now called Franceschi Park.
There is a book that might have information about this garden: Southern California Gardens: An Illustrated History, by Victoria Padilla, first published in 1961, was reprinted in 1994. It includes a list of Santa Barbara estates open to the public in 1915.
http://www.sandiegohistory.org/journal/95winter/gardens.htm is a review of the reprint.
