These are also known as "Jaboticaba" (Myricaria cauliflora). I hear some trees are rather cold tolerant while others not so much. The fruit is said to taste like a muscadine grape with a tougher skin. The skin is high in tannins though (not exactly good to eat large quantities of). Probably one of the few cauliflorous trees that can be grown in Mediterranean climates.
