Today, paging through the September 8 issue of NY Magazine*, I saw a photo
of a painting by Roberto Juarez, part of an exhibit at the Robert Miller
Gallery in NYC (exhibit closed October 4). The paintings are said to have
been influenced by Juarez' year at the American Academy in Rome; according
to NYMag, they "suggest a contemplative walk among the classical
sculptures and in the Baroque gardens of the Giancolo and the academy's
Bass Garden."
Alessandra Vincinguerra has written of the gardens at the American Academy
and made me want to see it. The painting by Juarez is very seductive, and
now I'm even more anxious to see the Academy's garden. Did anybody catch
the show? Was this discussed on this list?
*Yes, I'm way behind on my reading, but almost caught up on garden work
