Dear Michael:

   My favorite name is Kinninnick whose botanical name is
Arctostaphylos  uva-ursi.  uva ursi is a species name shared by
Kinninnick and the grizzly bear. The red berried plant is in the
Ericaceae family.   Even though it is an Ericaceae it will tolerate
alkaline soil.
