Tim -- thanks for the clarification on the messages regarding s. foskaolii.
I too have grown it in California.  I planted probably a dozen seeds and
have a single mature plant as a result.  But that plant has gone to seed
and I expect to see lots of seedlings in short order.  The plant seems very
happy in a semi-shaded area, despite the fact that it gets limited water.
