In Corfu, Greece, where we sometimes go through the winter without a
real frost and usually have only two or three per winter, blackberries
are a real menace depite the rocky soil and total absence of summer
rain. (To add insult to injury the berries are so dry leathery and
filled with dust in their numerous crevices that they're practically
inedible). Only repeated treatment of the fresh shoots with brush-on
roundup seems to help control but not eradicate.
In contrast, lantanas are cherished garden-plants, disciplined and
obedient. Go figure!
