Re: Aloe site?


I can't help either with an Aloe site but feel compelled to comment 
that plants listed in books are likely to be never seen or heard of 
outside Sth Africa. Maybe people just aren't looking in the right 
places. Have you tried the annual shows and plant sales of local 
cacti and succulent societies, or local specialist cacti and 
succulent nurseries. Many aloes, even the biggest ones, make 
very attractive pot specimens (sometime in their juvenile stages 
such as Aloe ferox) and are sold as indoor or pot plants by green 
house companies. The miniature species and hybrids, of which 
there are dozens emanating from Japan and Germany, are also 
very attractive as pot plants for windowsills and greenhouses. I'd be 
very surprised if these were not available somewhere in the USA or 
Europe - they certainly find their way down under to the remoter 
parts of Australia and even to NZ.
