Sorry. I can't think how I failed to furnish the scientific name. Try
Carpodetus serratus on for size. It is the ony species in NZ, but has a
few relatives in New Guinea. It belongs to the Escalloniaceae and was
one of the species collected by Joseph Banks on the Endeavour voyage.
Puta is a perfectly respectable word in Maori, whatever it means in
Spanish!!
