About 20 years ago I grew a vinca from seed. I believe the name has since
changed to Catharanthus. It is growing in my unheated greenhouse which
usually maintains a temperature of about 24C in the summer (about 75F). It
has never flowered. It has rather thick, shiny evergreen leaves. It has a
woody trunk, and I keep it pruned to about 2 m high by 1 m through.
It is listed in seed catalogues as a half-hardy annual that flowers well,
even in the hottest weather. I suspect this means it will flower only if
the weather is hot.
I guess I should chop it out so I could use the space for a more
interesting plant. I am curious as to how it grows in a warmer climate
than here.
