Pomegranates and grapes

I've never known quite what to make of one biblical reference to
pomegranates, the one in the Song of Solomon (4:3) that reads 'thy
temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks.' My Sunday
School teacher could only suggest that the object of King Solomon's
affections might have been out in the sun too long.

But since a 'Shirley Temple', in North America at least, is a
non-alcoholic concoction of grenadine and fruit juice often served in
restaurants to give very young persons some pretence of adulthood when
their elders order more stimulating drink, perhaps a 'Solomon's Temple'
might be an appropriate appelation for the seemingly more regal
combination of pomegranate juice and champagne.
