I do really begin to envy your long hot summer. It's going on for two
years since we last had a real run of dry sunny weather. This spring is
awful with mostly darkly overcast skies and almost unending drizzle, and
maybe one or even two clear days in the week if we are lucky.
 
It gets more like Ireland all the time and I really now see what they
are on about.
In the "good old days" before the wretched Southern Oscillation got
under way and spoilt our climate we would think ourselves unlucky if we
got two or three such dark days in a year.

Surprisingly my new lavender bed (chiefly stoechis varieties) is
flowering like mad!
