I looked it up in my Australian Wildflowr Catalogue which says " it will
grow in most well-drained soils in full or partial sun. It is suitable
for coastal planting with some protection and is drought and frost
resistant. A regular light pruning will encourage bushiness." Seems Nan
your one hadn't read the book!
I would guess for an Australian claimed to be drought resistant,
watering should be very restrained. When the weather gets dry in Oz it
gets really dry. it's odd though it seemed to be bothered by the frost
as the book seems to think it is shouldn't be. Maybe regular watering
had encouraged it to grow too "soft".
It also says it makes a good container plant and this might possibly
improve its chance of survival.
