Easiest thing in the world since no 'treatment' is really needed. Just
remove the fruits from the vine when they are the appropriate size and
dry them for a few days. The outer cuticle is then peeled easily away.
Cut off the ends and remove the seeds for the next planting. Your friend
now has a homegrown vegetable sponge.
