Well this certainly seems possible, as it is apparently known locally
as the "thatch palm", so fills at least one of the niches of Pandanus in
that island.
I should have thought if there were a specific Pandanus native on Lord
Howe it would be mentioned in one or other of my refernce books for
Oceania, but I can find no trace of it.
Visually though, judging by the pic, Howea is a very typocal palm and
not particularly similar in looks to a Pandanus.
