To answer Richard's question about February and
March weather in Italy is not easy. We have had very unusual weather
recently. Last year we had a very warm winter and then almost bitter cold
in April.
Normally in Rome the almonds bloom at the end of
January early February and then a gradual warm up with the roses bid flush of
bloom in mid-May. The costal areas and soutnern Italy are quite
tempered but the Alps and central Italy will still have snow well into
March. You should bring a raincoat and umbrella and a warm sweater or
two.
All the best,
Helene Pizzi
