Some people I know want to plant an almond and a fig tree in an area that previously had eucalyptus trees. They were cut down 5 years ago. An alternative area did not have eucalyptus trees but is covered with a thick layer of eucalyptus chips. I seem to remember a study that showed that eucalyptus mulch is not harmful to plants, but I don't know for sure what to recommend.Long ago we had a thread on this topic and what I recall is that the results showed eucalyptus and euc mulch to be of benefit to plant growth rather than a detriment. Search the archive, anni, I bet you'll find it.
It would be great if someone with more experience with eucalyptus would tell me what they think about this. The garden in question is in San Aselmo, California.
Thanks,
