Although, if you had mostly sand for your soil, even
Kikuyu will look spotty and threadbare without
watering. I don't like it because it gets everywhere
and i just generally hate lawns :) (we found a 5 foot
long stolon creeping its way along the inside of the
garage once looking for light). I also found it much
too coarse for my liking (lying on it would cause me
to come away with a bit of a rash. I've also seen the
old lawns here in Monterey on the base that don't get
water dry up and die. So here at least Kikuyu does
need some watering to maintain it.
