Thanks to everyone for their comments. My plantlets have never developed air roots but I pinned them down to the ground and we'll see how/if they root. I had to respond to one comment, though:
Walking iris are very versatile plants. They can be used in borders, beds,Oy, in a hanging basket???? You'd have to hang it on a looooong string. The flowering stalks in my garden are at least 6' tall!
