Dear Margaret, Thank you for your suggestion, I also thought it might be some kind of a Cassia but now I have the idea it might be a subsp. of Koelreuteria elegans, it is similar to K. elegans subsp. formosana although color and shape of the flower is a bit different. ......still a mystery Oron

Has your mystery tree been identified? My immediate response was that it might be some sort of Flindersia perhaps F.bennettiana, or F.bourjotiana. On the other hand the flowers seem similar to some Cassia species and to some Melia species. Very curious as to what it is and good luck with it.
