'Sunset' blooms on my Berkeley drought-slope 365 days a year.
Nothing else comes near it. C. hirstus (villosus?) is a relatively long
bloomer as is
x 'Pupureus' but x 'Maculatus' must be second to 'Sunset' and has
those
overpowering volatile oils which vaporize on hot days. The worst
bloomers
for me are x arguillarii, its parent C. palinhae, and most forms of
ladanifer
and salvifolius, the latter though has the virtue of becoming a snow
carpet
for about 20 days in the mid spring. Hope this helps!
