Dear Ken Osborn, Hi!
Cotonseed meal contains only nitrogen no K no P and is the best organic
fertilizer for rhodies, camellias, proteaceae and other Australians.
It slowly breaks down so three feedings a year--1 tsp for a seedling, a
cup for a mature Vireya, a large coffee can for a full grown rhodie or
callistemon 2 or 3 X a year would prove fully sufficient. You can't even
burn the plant by overfeeding as it breaks down so slowly. It also slightly
acidifies. For acidification I use Vitatone from Nuccio's on plants
showing nitrogen or magnesium deficiencies. See bottle for amounts to be
used and follow directions. One flaw - no Vitatone on foliage, cement,
concrete,
stone-in the ground sir...it stains!
Speak to you soon.
