Jeremy,

Sean gives you some right infos about cappera spinosa ,i agree with him except
for the pickle:salamoia aka pickle is only with salt not vinegar;surely
there are cappera pickled in vinegar(in my house i verified,i have this
product in
strong vinegar)but the best savour is only with salt.
you ask when cappera is harvested?in May here in Italy where it is present
almost everywhere but above all to center and south Italy;in island 
Pantelleria(to extreme Italy's south near North Africa)it is cultivated.it
grows into rocks slits and it is surprising how it can grow taking only
water from leaves.
