Can't resist pitching in to this one uninvited! When we first came to NZ
(in 1954-5) Vim /was/ available here, but the most popular local
scouring powder (that's what Vim is, for those who don't know!) was a
brand called "Old Dutch".

Later first Vim, and then Old Dutch, disappeared off the market, but one
called "Ajax" appeared. This seems to have been a survivor, as we can
still get it. It is the only scouring *powder* on the market now, but
there is a variety of liquid ones.

Moira and I much prefer buying a powder cleanser to the liquid kinds -
buying the latter, you are just buying water and various thickening and
suspension-aid chemicals as well as the scouring powder that is there
too. If we want a scourer, that's what we want - not all the "extras".
