Every year about this time, on my way to work I pass a long, west-facing
wall where an unbelievably beautiful Salvia comes into flower. The
unbranched stems are about a meter high or slightly less high with lanceolate, light green
leaves. The flowers have very fuzzy (furry), bright violet bracts from
which pure white flowers emerge. They are fairly closely arranged,
looking almost raceme-like. Quite stunning. Does anyone know what this is? I've not seen
it in nurseries or in catalogs as far as I know. If it isn't a Salvia,
it's something that should be.
