non-blooming yellow cosmos

This year, for the first time, I am growing yellow cosmos.  The feathery
foliage is very attractive, but I haven't had a single bloom yet.  Pink
cosmos has been blooming since midsummer.  Does the yellow one require
short days to flower?  Or more heat than I get on the coast?
