I am helping organize a Winter Study Weekend here in Victoria,
British Columbia, Canada, next March. The theme is Harbingers of
Spring, Early Spring Treasures for the Rock Garden and Woodland. We
have asked the speakers to keep in mind our summer dry/winter wet
climate. Dr. Dave McDonald will be showing slides of South African
plants, and Dr. John Grimshaw who is publishing a book on Snowdrops
soon, will speak on European plants. In addition, there will be
local speakers, workshops and a plant sale. Details are available on
