Hi Jan
I too greatly enjoy that combination of deep green and chatreuse. Even
if individual plants are relatively short-lived I have found in my
garden at least they self-seed so freely that continuity is assured.
They even seem to pop up in unexpected plances forming their own
attracive associations with other plants. I notice they seem to favour
partly shady sites but don't seem to mind if these are pretty
summer-dry. My climate zone is approximately 9 by the way.

H argutifolius is not at all generous with seedlings in my garden, but
apparently does better in this respect in Auckland which has both a
warmer and a more evenly moist climate. Not sure exactly which factor
favous it.
