All:
With our "global fusion", particularly among
"mediterannean-climate" gardens, I am sure that an
Italian garden looks much like a garden in Santa
Barbara, California or Cape Town, South Africa or
Valparaiso, Chile.
BUT ... I have this feeling that an Italian garden,
especially one of a centuary ago, has something about
its plant palette that makes it singularly "Italian".
I'm not talking about hard elements of a garden; I'm
talking about the actual floral mixture.
I'm hoping the members of this forum who know
something about Italian gardens -- I suspect our
Italian associates especially -- can tell me what it
is that makes up the plant collection of an authentic
"Italian Garden".
So, besides the native flowers of Italy, what goes
into the horticultural mix?
Grazie,
Giuseppe Luigi Pasquale (yes, my real name) Seals
