Hi Charles,

Could your mystery tree from Brisbane be one
of the Caesalpinias? I saw small trees in gardens
in Baja California several years ago, with that
kind of leaf (leaflets were 3/4" long, though),
gorgeous red flowers, and long, sword-like,
brown pods. I've convinced myself they must
have been C. pulcherrima.
