I used to have ants. I think they were munching on the wooden floor under the ceramic tiles. In the summer they'd come out winged, ready to make a new nest. For years I sprinkled borax with no effect. Then last year I read somewhere online that you need to mix it with some sugar and water. I made little puddles on my floor tiles, and the ants soon were all around the edge of the puddles, slurping it up. That was it. No flying ants this year.
