Would anyone be able to provide an opinion on the new double volume 'Flora' which was recently released. Its not available in this country & I'd have to have it shipped from overseas, so would like to know if its really worth it first. I use 'Botanica' as my main reference & its the best plant book I've ever had. Is the 'Flora' an update of this ? I see it has twice the species numbers & was wondering if its 'Botanica' expanded or not. Thanks in advance
Unfortunately Glenn. Though it will be arriving here soon and is initially
offered at a pre-publication price, it is still so expensive (more then
twice the price of Botanica) I cannot justify reserving one just for my private interest..
I had not heard it contains double the number of species but what I did like he sound of was that it is apparently published in two volumes. Botanica I find, like you, really excellent, but deplore the standard of binding which is nowhere near stout enough for such a heavy volume.
I hope someone can give you a proper answer to your question. One wonders how likely one is to meet up with so many extra species, many of which are surely very rare.
