If you can grow Leucodendron you should be OK with a warratah. They have
similar pruning needs too - straight after flowering, or by cutting the
flowers for indoors, and NEVER below the last set of leaves. Rather more
compact than most Leaucodendrons, altho' in great age it still gets
quite tall. The open position should help keep it compact and sturdy.

I am considering a waratah Telopea speciosissima for my garden. I
want to plant it in a full sun location with a slight slope and good
drainage. A leucadendron is growing next to the spot I want to put
