Mirabilis

I first encountered this plant in Venice, Italy, where it was growing in a
big pot outside a shop.  In Italian it has the lovely name of 'Bella de la
Notte'.  When my husband and I built a house on an "empty" lot, the magenta
form showed up on its own.  I enjoyed the fragrance.  I later obtained a
nice light gold which kept its solid color for many years.
