For me, in the Languedoc area of S France, it acts as a short lived perennial ie it lasts about three or four years before dying. Here it is very drought hardy and survives winter temps down to at least -8°C I propagate it by stem cuttings or seed

In your garden, does Mexican hat (Ratibida columnifera) last more than a season? Technically, it is classified as a perennial but in my garden, it grows as an annual. What does everyone else find?
