Re: Le Jardin des Plantes de Montpellier

Hello everybody,

Living in Montpellier, I can't help applaud this initiative. I don't have enough time now to read everything, but it looks wonderful, clear and full of anecdotes I surely don't know.
Thank you so much Sean for sharing this site. I will send it to our MGS's president who is very fond of the Jardin des Plantes.

Best regards

Hey folks -

I recently updated a google site I created and it occurred to me that some of you might find it interesting.  It is a compilation of interesting historical tidbits of Le Jardin des Plantes de Montpellier, France's oldest botanic garden:
I continue to find interesting and surprising connections to the botanical and horticultural world at large relating to this garden, and events that took place here also represent a microcosm of French society and its changes.

I make no pretense to be an authority on this topic, but in that so few people in the US are aware of this garden (even though most botanist know the name quite well), it seemed important to share what I have learned.  I hope that I've presented it in a clear and accessible manner (I'd be interested to hear if you feel otherwise).  I'd also be interested to hear your reactions.

This site is not yet complete and there are some interesting 'chapters' yet to come, so let me know if you wish to be informed of new installments.

Regards,
Seán O.
