thats funny, ive never ever seen any palms popping up in the chapparal
areas, even around the vernal pools, or even in peoples yards. However
date seeds will come up readily. I had eaten a few on the porch one
day, spat out the pits, and a few months later i had like ten Date palm
seedlings popping up (extremely slow growing here with the fog, the
seedlings rather). Date palms arent even planted here, though i know
theyll grow (but probably not fruit). However the worst offender here
is Algerian ivy (dont know the latin, just the kind with big slightly
lobed leaves). Anyways, the birds eat the fruits and when they go to
the bathroom we have little purple droppings all over (they even get
them on the siding!)! Ive even had the seeds sprout!
